Bundle & Length Guide

HAIRX INSTALLATION PLANNING

Choose the right number of bundles and lengths for the finish you want—not simply the longest option available.

Recommended Bundle Quantities

Your ideal quantity depends on your selected length, texture, installation method, head size and desired fullness. Use these recommendations as a starting point and confirm your plan with your installer before ordering.

Selected length Natural finish Fuller finish
12–16 inches 2 bundles 3 bundles
18–22 inches 3 bundles 3–4 bundles
24–26 inches 3 bundles 4 bundles
28–30 inches 4 bundles 4 or more bundles
Longer bundles contain approximately the same product weight distributed across longer strands. This can make the ends appear less dense, so longer installations usually require more bundles.

Choose Your Installation Set

Essential Install Set

Three coordinated bundles

Best suited for:

  • Most 16–22-inch installations
  • Styles using leave-out
  • Balanced fullness without unnecessary bulk
  • Straight, wavy or curly finishes

Complete Closure Set

Three coordinated bundles and one matching 4×4 closure

Best suited for:

  • Little or no leave-out
  • A completed top and parting area
  • Protective-style planning
  • A coordinated texture match

A closure does not replace one of your bundles. It completes the top section but does not provide all the fullness needed through the back and sides.

Full-Volume Set

Four coordinated bundles

Best suited for:

  • Lengths of 24 inches or longer
  • Layered or high-volume finishes
  • Curly styles expanded for additional fullness
  • A dense result from root to end

How Texture Changes Visual Length

Hair is measured while extended. Waves and curls create shrinkage, which means textured hair may appear shorter when worn in its natural pattern.

  • Straight: Shows the most direct visual length.
  • Body Wave and Natural Wave: Appear slightly shorter because of their movement.
  • Soft Curly and Indonesian Curly: Show moderate shrinkage.
  • Spring Curly and Indonesian Deep Curly: Can appear significantly shorter because of their stronger curl formation.

If you want a curly style to fall at a specific point on your body, choose according to the curl’s finished appearance—not only its stretched measurement.

General Length Placement

Placement varies according to height, torso length, head shape, installation position and texture. These estimates are general:

  • 12–14 inches: Shoulder to upper-back area
  • 16–18 inches: Upper to mid-back area
  • 20–22 inches: Mid-back area
  • 24–26 inches: Lower-back area
  • 28–30 inches: Waist area or below on some customers

Curly and wavy textures will rest higher when worn in their natural pattern.

Choosing Graduated Lengths

Mixing nearby lengths can create natural-looking layers without removing excessive hair during installation.

Popular combinations include:

  • 14, 16 and 18 inches
  • 16, 18 and 20 inches
  • 18, 20 and 22 inches
  • 22, 24 and 26 inches

For a blunt, one-length finish, order matching lengths and have the final shape professionally cut after installation.

Leave-Out or 4×4 Closure?

Choose leave-out when:

  • Your natural hair blends well with the selected texture.
  • You are comfortable maintaining your leave-out.
  • Your desired style and hair health support regular blending.

Choose a 4×4 closure when:

  • You want little or no leave-out.
  • You prefer less daily manipulation of your natural hair.
  • You want a defined parting area.
  • A matching closure is available for your selected texture.
HaiRx currently offers 4×4 closures. Frontals are not offered.

Before You Order

Ask your installer:

  1. Which texture best supports my desired result?
  2. How many bundles can my installation method hold safely?
  3. Should I order matching or graduated lengths?
  4. Will the finished hair be cut into layers?
  5. Am I using leave-out or a 4×4 closure?
  6. Do I want natural fullness or a full-volume finish?
